Newcomer Matt Waldin Challenged Series All Star Chris Forsberg in the First Ever Formula Drift Top 32 Tandem Battle
West Chester, PA (PRWEB) A new year brings a new event set up for Formula Drift including tandem battles that start at the top 32 drivers instead of the top 16 offering spectators more head to head tandem battles than ever before. At the Formula D season opener, Streets of Long Beach, the top 32 tandem battles started with Matt Waldin, a new driver to Formula D, and Chris Forsberg, a seasoned, top driver for the series.
Matt and Chris are old friends from the east coast drift scene. Chris took the leap early and devoted his time to drift competitions. Matt remained on the east coast and runs an east coast hot spot, Import Intelligence, where the team there builds drift cars and other performance vehicles. Having two old friends from the same little town in Pennsylvania, both in 350zs, one rookie, one all star ? meet up for this epic, first ever Formula Drift top 32 tandem battle, seemed fitting.
Naturally having the 32nd qualifying driver (Waldin) compete against the 1st qualifier (Forsberg), gave the obvious advantage to Forsberg, but all were surprised when Matt entered the course and more than held his own. Forsberg took the win and moved on, but not without having to put up a fight with this formidable rookie.
?Chris is one of the best drivers out there and I was stoked for the challenge of our heads up tandem battle. Competing with top level drivers pushes me to improve my own driving so running against Chris really made me step up my game,? commented Matt Waldin after completing his first ever Formula D tandem battle. ?I?m looking forward to the challenge of proving myself in the Formula D series. With a couple more tweaks to the new car we expect to qualify much higher in Atlanta.?
Matt Waldin is sponsored by Tuner Icons, Import Intelligence, Dunlop Tires, Mishimoto, SPL Parts, Competition Clutch, NGK Spark Plugs, BC Racing suspension and is a member of the Drift Brigade driving team. More information is available at mattwaldin.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 25, 2009

Team Stewie/Chewbacca has just announced at a press conference in Tatooine that they will be participating in the 2009 Targa Newfoundland Rally.
This will be the first time in history these two icons have come together to race. Having no experience in rally Stewie and Chewbacca have a lot of preparation ahead of them.
Many safety concerns have been brought up by Targa stating a custom helmet must be designed for Stewies football shaped head and Chewbacca’s fur as a fire hazard.
Needless to say the team is willing to do everything in their power to become part of 2009 Targa history.
No information has been released on what car they will be using and what sponsors they will be representing but they have stated they are working hard with the Koreans to build something spectacular.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
MONTREAL, Quebec, March 22th 2009.
Eric Belec announces today that it has agreed to acquire DMCC (Promotion Driftmania Inc.) from Alex Crepault to promote and manage the only professional Canadian drift championship. The acquisition combines DriftThing Nights, a local Quebec based amateur series and Castrol DMCC, the only national professional championship in Canada. Eric Belec’s experience in promotions and event management will be a great asset to DMCC’s existing staff.
The DMCC team has been built since 2004, a strong championship that complements Eric’s mission; to organize safe and exciting events where fans will be kept on the edge of their seats until the final event.
Eric Belec has been involved in drifting since 2004 and started out as a sponsor of DMCC and a promoter for DriftThing Nights, an amateur competition and practice series. In the last two years DriftThing has had over 35,000 people attend the events.
“This is one of the greatest news since the beginning of the Castrol DMCC. With my involvement, we will go forward to build the strongest driver base ever in the Canadian history. With 5 Professional events in eastern Canada, 4 in the western Canada, 4 Pro Am Championship dates and 17 DriftThing Night practices, we make sure that we are going forward to bring drift sport a step ahead. 2009 represents a real challenge with the global economy but all our team members from all provinces are working hard to bring the visibility this extreme sport deserves” said Eric Belec at the first official meeting in Montreal, Quebec.
Eric Belec will be using DMCC’s original staff and incorporating them into the new business plans for 2009. This years attention will be focused on media coverage with the use of a national PR firm, TV, strong web visibility and auxiliary entertainment at events.

We met the boys from Import Intelligence last year in DMCC. Needless to say they put on a great show and definitely left their mark showing commitment and dedication to the Canadian drift scene. For 2009 a brand new chassis was announced not too long ago…the addition of their new 350z. With so many events to attend in 2009 i’m sure Waldin and his boys will have a fun season.
